Although this is one of the shortest routes available for you to travel by train in Brazil, it is also one of the most classic. Just 12km long and less than 40 minutes of fun, the train trip to Tiradentes, Minas Gerais, holds jewels of history.

First, it is worth remembering that the São João Railway Museum is a mandatory stop for those who like trains. So, if you choose to take this route, take some time before boarding to visit and take some pictures of the historic site.

In addition, the journey is full of wonders of nature and will fill your eyes with so much beauty. After disembarking, you can still enjoy lunch or stroll through the center of Tiradentes, which is not far from the station. It is worth remembering that, as it is a short journey, the seats fill up easily, so if you choose the tour, buy in advance.

Vitoria to Belo Horizonte

Unlike the previous route of just 12km, this train ride that connects Vitória, in Espírito Santo, to Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais, is about 664km long. That is, you need to be willing to take a leisurely trip, without rushing, as it takes around 12 hours to complete the trip.

Incidentally, this is one of the only passenger trains that still travels by train across Brazil for a long distance, a unique opportunity. Although the view from the outside is dazzling, the inside of the cars is a show of its own. Everything is cozy and comfortable, and some have a TV and even air conditioning.

In addition, you can also take advantage of the cafeteria and restaurant cars to eat a good dish from Minas Gerais during your trip. The journey makes 28 stops, but all are quick as they only serve to board and disembark passengers.

Curitiba to Morretes

First of all, this rail journey was chosen by an important English newspaper as one of the most beautiful train rides in the world. Therefore, if you are thinking about taking a train trip through Brazil, this should definitely be on your list.

Inaugurated in 1885, this railroad was used to transport yerba mate and wood. Currently, the route is just a part of what it used to be, and connects the capital of Paraná with the city of Morretes, in the same state. In addition, you can choose to travel by traditional train or by litorina.

In this sense, the litorina is a wagon that has a diesel engine and its own driver and was an invention of Mussolini. But, did you know that there are only five of these in the entire world? Well, three of them are in Brazil, and you can choose to take this litorina tour in the standard or luxury version.

Whichever you choose, the entire route is breathtaking, passing through the largest preserved area of Atlantic Forest in the country. Thus, the tour should last about 4 hours and is 110km long. It's definitely worth checking out.

Bento Gonçalves for Carlos Barbosa

Better known as the Wine Train, the trip through the cities of Rio Grande do Sul covers just 23km. By the way, leaving Bento Gonçalves, the train still makes a stop in Garibaldi before the end of the journey, in Carlos Barbosa. Furthermore, the whole trip takes about 1 hour and a half to complete, but you have wine and grape juice tasting in all seasons.

In addition, there are theater performances that pass through all the cars to tell the story of the region, when Italians immigrated in search of better living conditions. This is a train trip through Brazil that is also worth taking, and not just for tasting the typical drinks.

In fact, this path also holds a lot of culture and beautiful landscapes. The steam locomotive that was inaugurated in the early 20th century continues with its original structure, which adds even more charm to the experience as a whole.

Sao Luiz to Parauapebas

If you are thinking about taking a train trip through Brazil, believe me, this one will test all your willpower. In this sense, the route is the longest on the rail network currently in operation, with 892km in length, taking about 20 hours of travel, sometimes less.

In addition, during the journey there are 14 stops at stations along the way that connects the Northeast region, São Luiz do Maranhão, the North region, Parauapebas in Pará. Although the carriages have been modernized and offer TV, meals and an executive wing with air conditioning , the journey is still long.

However, the great entertainment for those who take this route is to buy the meals offered at certain points outside the train. That's right, in some stations you can buy food through the window, such as buriti rice, tapioca cake and pasta. It is certainly a journey through the different cultures of Brazil.
