What is a transit vote?
As the name suggests, voting in transit is nothing more than requesting authorization to vote, even outside your electoral zone. In other words, if you are traveling within the country, you can still vote!

Furthermore, voting must take place in a municipality with an electorate of at least 100 thousand people. If you are traveling within the same state as your voting precinct, then you can vote as normal for all offices.
Meanwhile, if you are outside your state, you can only vote for the position of president of the republic. Don't forget that if you can't show up to vote on any occasion, you still need to justify your absence, ok?
Although it is a more practical option when voting, voting in transit for travelers does not work for voters who are outside the country. In this sense, if you are just traveling, you will have to justify your vote.
However, if you have permanent residence in another country, you can transfer your electoral zone abroad. It is worth remembering that, in these cases, it is necessary to have resided in the country for at least 3 months.
Therefore, the voter will need to appear in person at any of the 3 locations:
- Electoral Registry Office abroad;
- Embassy;
- Brazilian Consulate.
Then, you must present your personal documents such as passport, proof of permanent residence abroad, voter registration card with regularized status and photo ID to make the request.

Well, voting in transit for travelers within Brazil should work a little differently. Firstly, remember that it is only possible to vote for all positions if the voter is within the same state.
In other words, if you are outside your state, you can only vote for president of the republic and you must justify the other positions, is that ok? So see below how to request a vote in transit!
Voter ID
Before taking any step, you must have a valid and regularized voter registration card to request a vote in transit. In other words, if you have any pending issues, you will not be entitled to this modality.
In fact, to find out if your electoral situation is regularized, you can check the website of the Superior Electoral Court, or TSE, in a simple way. Just access and enter your title number or CPF.
Request
Firstly, you must appear in person at an Electoral Office to indicate the city or municipality where you will be. However, remember that the place must have more than 100 thousand voters.
So, simply present an official document with a photo to request a license. In fact, be careful to request a vote in transit for travelers within the deadlines for the first and second round.
Cancellation
After qualifying to vote outside your electoral domicile, it is also possible to cancel or change the city if necessary. But pay attention! Any changes or cancellations must be within the deadline, okay?
If you decide to return to your city without first canceling your transit vote for travelers, you will not be able to vote. In this case, it is necessary to justify your absence through the e-Título application or Electoral Registry.
Travel abroad
As we have already informed, those residing in another country for more than 3 months can transfer their voting domicile and vote normally. However, if you are in another country during the elections, the procedure changes.
If you cannot prove permanent residence outside Brazil, you will not be able to vote while abroad. In other words, you will need to justify your absence through the e-Título application or when returning to the country.
